Friday night was a little sweeter than normal at Strange Donuts in downtown Columbia. The doughnut shop hosted a beautiful marriage proposal from Jason to his girlfriend, Aimee. The staff at Strange Donuts was in on the big secret and crafted a special proposal doughnut for the display case. Jason had contacted us several weeks ago to arrange photography for his proposal and we jumped at the chance to be part of their love story.

Jason and Aimee, who met on a double blind date, traditionally have a doughnut date night on Thursdays. Last Friday, though, Jason took Aimee for a meal at Geisha Suishi (where they had their first solo date) before walking down to Strange Donuts. As we all waited in Strange Donuts, trying to act like it was a normal Friday night, Jason let Taylor, the Strange Donuts manager, know they were on their way.

As soon as Aimee reached the display case and saw the proposal doughnut – “Aimee, will you marry me?” – she turned around and said, “I’m guessing I’m the only Aimee?” Right on cue, Jason dropped to one knee and began his proposal.

We weren’t close enough to hear the proposal and were a little busy photographing but the end result was Aimee said “Yes,” donned her ring, and now has a wedding to plan!

After the proposal, we captured a few engagements shots with Jason and Aimee in downtown Columbia and then called it a night.
