A Classic Southern, Mississippi Wedding: Matthew & Maggie, July 30, 2016

A Classic Southern, Mississippi Wedding: Matthew & Maggie, July 30, 2016

A historic antebellum home. Magnolia trees and crepe myrtles. Lace and frills. Hydrangeas and southern accents. Matthew and Maggie’s wedding day was filled with love, beauty, reminisces of the past and hope for the future. The couple and wedding party prepared at The Magnolias, a historic antebellum home in Aberdeen, MS. Florals and lace and glittery chandeliers abounded. Matthew’s Dad, Dennis, served as his best man. Maggie’s parents were so excited for their little girl’s wedding day! Matthew and Maggie chose to have a First Look and a little private time before couples portraits and wedding party photos. Matthew and Maggie were married at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, MS – the same church where her parents had been married. The huge sanctuary features soaring ceilings, stained glass windows and seated hundreds of family and friends. The wedding reception at The Arbors of Amory featured detail upon detail of classic southern charm and beauty. Rain had poured a couple times during the day, but toward the end of the night, the skies cleared and first dances were held outside on the beautiful patio space. Columbia, MO, Newborn Session: Baby Abraham

Bethany and Dan welcomed their fourth child, Abraham, into their beautiful family a few weeks ago. The love in this family is palpable! The three older children were enraptured by their new sibling and doted on their little brother. Baby Abraham took all the snuggles, kisses and big kid noises in stride. Of course, portraits of the big kids, sweet and silly, were required! Congratulations, Bethany and Dan! You have a beautiful... read more

Columbia, MO, McBaine Bur Oak: Proposal – Daniel & Alicia

Daniel approached me (Andrew) while shooting pictures at The Crossing and asked if I’d be interested in capturing his proposal. “Sure!” I said with no idea it was happening in four days! Daniel and I scouted the location (McBaine Bur Oak), formulated a covert plan of action and it all came together. He picked up the ring an hour before he was to propose…talk about cutting it close! In order to keep the proposal and photography a complete surprise, I dressed as a cyclist and acted as if I was repairing a flat on my bike. The MKT is nearby – a perfect cover. Shoshana parked across the road; her cover was that she just brought me a new inner tube. We must have blended in because Alicia did not notice or suspect a thing. Our cameras at the ready, we secretly snapped away as Daniel went down on one knee. After capturing the special and private moment we grabbed some engagement photos. Daniel even brought some bubbly, and the evening was perfect. Congratulations, Daniel and Alicia, we’re so excited for you guys and your new life... read more

Columbia, Missouri, Family Session: Calvin & CortneyJo

We first met Calvin and CortneyJo a couple of years ago when their little guy, Calvin, Jr., was a tiny baby. They have definitely grown into a beautiful, loving little family! This session was a little bittersweet. They just left Columbia for a new job and we know there are many here who will miss them.     We made sure to sneak in a few couples-only pictures while Calvin, Jr., was running around enjoying the freedom to roam! Calvin and CortneyJo, thanks for the privilege of photographing your family. We wish you guys the best in your new... read more

Engagement Session, Shelter Gardens, Columbia, MO: Aimee & Jason

After shooting Jason’s surprise proposal to Aimee at Strange Donuts in March, we were thrilled when they asked us to photograph their wedding. We recently captured their engagement photos at Shelter Gardens and look forward to their wedding next spring. The Newcomer School on the Shelter Garden grounds was especially interesting for this session because Aimee’s mom attended a one-room schoolhouse in Kansas! Congratulations, Aimee and Jason! We look forward to your wedding... read more

Romantic Barn Engagement Session, Columbia, MO: Ashlee & Adam

Ashlee and Adam appreciated the feel of a family session we did last fall and asked us to photograph their wedding. Their engagement session included an old family tobacco barn and a beautiful spring evening. This couple definitely compliments each other, joking back and forth and bantering with Andrew. The light streaming through the doors and cracks of the barn created a warm, country feel as lazy as the evening. A couple of pictures on the tailgate as well as some ring shots completed this session. Congratulations Ashlee and Adam! We’re excited about your obvious love for one another and looking forward to your... read more

Engagement Session, Columbia, MO: Aaron & Sarah

We are excited about this couple! They’ve asked us to photograph their wedding in October and after seeing the beauty of their love and affection they shared during their engagement session, we know the big day will be special. The day before the shoot, as is typical, we scouted out the location. They suggested Rock Bridge State Park and so we searched for areas that offered something a little different than what you typically see in this location. The day of the session had us checking the weather every five minutes as storms threatened. Thankfully the rain held off and the clouds even parted for the sun to shine through at the right moments. The newly minted leaves added an electric green to some images while the multitude of textures of last season’s grasses fed our hungry cameras. Congratulations, Aaron and Sarah! We greatly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to telling the story of your wedding... read more
Engagement Session, Mississippi State University: Matthew & Maggie

Engagement Session, Mississippi State University: Matthew & Maggie

It was a distinct pleasure to photograph Matthew and Maggie at Mississippi State University when I (Shoshana) went south to visit family. Matthew is Andrew’s cousin and Maggie will graduate in May with her bachelor’s degree. Andrew and I started dating while students at MSU and both earned our bachelor’s degrees there, as well as Matthew, so, needless to say, there’s history for all of us there. The campus has changed significantly since Andrew and I were students with many new dorms, updated buildings and beautiful walking areas. Stately buildings surround the beautiful Drill Field. Maggie loves the steps on Lee Hall, so that was one of our first stops on our trek across campus. The Chapel of Memories sits in the center of campus, just east of Davis Wade Stadium. The brick chapel hosts many weddings and served perfectly as a backdrop for Matthew and Maggie’s engagement session. We also made a stop at the dorm Maggie lived in when she and Matthew started dating. Matthew proposed by Chadwick Lake behind the Sanderson Center on campus, so we had to take some photos at that special location! Our final stop was in front of David Wade Stadium where the Bulldogs play.  Congratulations, Matthew and Maggie!... read more
